The Buffalo Bills signed Joey Bosa earlier this offseason to replace Von Miller at edge rusher. While that may be a short-term solution at the position, it might be in the team's best interests to draft an edge rusher in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
In a recent mock draft by Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com, he predicts what the Bills will do in all seven rounds. On Day 2, he thinks the team could trade up with the Atlanta Falcons to get the 46th pick and draft Arkansas edge rusher Landon Jackson.
"The Arkansas prospect is massive at 6-foot-6, 264 pounds and plays the game with aggression," Parrino wrote. "He uses his size to his advantage, and his quickness and explosive pass-rush ability were on display at the Senior Bowl earlier this offseason."
The Bills recently locked up 25-year-old defensive end Greg Rousseau with a four-year, $80 million extension back in March. They would like to add another young piece to the defensive line to go alongside him.
Jackson finished his senior season at Arkansas with 6.5 sacks, 49 total tackles, and 10 tackles for loss. At 6-6, 264 pounds, Jackson is an imposing force coming off the edge. But it is his athleticism that is his calling card.
He ran a solid 4.68 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Draft Combine, but it is his 40.5-inch vertical that jumps off the page. If he can use that athleticism to his advantage, he could be a great NFL edge rusher.
While the Bills are glad they have Bosa getting after opposing quarterbacks, drafting a younger guy like Jackson in the NFL Draft could be something to think about.
