Broncos Add New QB to Their Roster

Last year, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton made sure he had a strong quarterback room. Payton brought in veteran quarterback Jarrett Stidham on a multi-year deal and then made a trade for former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson. Denver then drafted Bo Nix with their first-round pick.

Once Nix proved that he was the quarterback the Broncos have been looking for since Peyton Manning, there wasn't any more searching for a franchise quarterback.

Heading into the offseason, Nix was the only quarterback on the roster. Denver then brought Stidham back on a two-year deal. Wilson decided to take his talents to Miami, signing a one-year deal. Wilson will back up Dolphins' starter Tua Tagovailoa.

According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, the Broncos are signing former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Sam Ehlinger to a one-year deal.

"He had multiple offers but chose Denver, seeing the best fit with HC Sean Payton and QBs coach Davis Webb, joining a room with Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham," Schultz said.

Ehlinger is a former sixth-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft after playing four seasons at Texas.

In college, Ehlinger threw for over 11,000 yards and 94 touchdowns.

In 2019, the Longhorns star was named the Sugar Bowl MVP and was second-team All-Big 12 in 2020.

During his time in the NFL, Ehlinger has started in just three games and lost all three. In those three games, he's completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 573 yards and three touchdowns. The 26-year-old has also thrown three interceptions in those three starts.

If this is the quarterback room that Payton wants to roll with in 2025, Ehlinger would be the No. 3 quarterback behind Stidham unless he can beat Stidham out in training camp.
