Broncos Trade Idea Lands Seahawks Star Running Back

Despite the busy offseason, the Denver Broncos still have a glaring need on their roster at running back. While a rookie could be added in the 2025 NFL Draft if the Broncos want to find a veteran, the Seattle Seahawks have an option at running back for Denver to consider.

This trade idea has the Broncos and Seahawks agreeing on a deal sending star running back Kenneth Walker III to the Broncos for a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Walker is entering the final-year of his rookie deal after bing drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Seattle has Zach Charbonnet for the next two seasons, and with Walker's health proving to be an issue, the Seahawks could move off Walker in the last year of his deal.

2024 was the worst season of Walker's NFL career, as he played in just 11 games, finishing with 573 rushing yards on 153 attempts. It was the worst season of his career by rushing yards, yards per attempt, rushing touchdowns, longest rush, and yards per game.

While he struggled as a runner, Walker had the best season of his career as a receiver. He hauled in 46 receptions on 53 targets for 299 yards and one touchdown, all of which are career highs. Walker is more renowned for his rushing ability, but his increased usage in the passing game is something the Broncos can build upon.

Across his three years in the NFL, Walker has 2,528 rushing yards and 24 rushing touchdowns. He's also great after contact, averaging two yards per carry after contact in 2024, and at least 300 yards after contact in every year of his career.

Walker would immediately become the lead back in Denver, and it would also still allow the Broncos to add a running back on day three of the 2025 NFL Draft in a stacked class. It's a win-win-win for Walker, the Broncos, and the Seahawks.

Seattle gets an extended look at Charbonnet as the lead back, while the Broncos land an experience running back. Walker meanwhile moves to a team on the upswing, as the Seahawks are re-tooling their entire offense. Walker wouldn't be to expensive, and is the perfect rental for Denver.

This trade idea would be another trade between the Broncos and Seahawks, though not as big of a blockbuster as the Russell Wilson deal. The Broncos would land a star running back at a low cost, and one that isn't a large investment.
