Browns Are Lying About NFL Draft Board 'Smokescreen'
USA TODAY Sports

There is a consensus when it comes to what other teams think about the Cleveland Browns, and about what they are saying, and about what they are doing.

The world probably does not have to wait and see what the Tennessee Titans do with the first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Miami's Cam Ward is the overwhelming favorite to go to Tennessee first overall.

Then come the Browns ... and with a straight face - well, as straight a face as they can manage - they are insisting they might not be sure what they're going to do.

And nobody believes them.

In our loose survey of thoughts from the people who run rival teams?

Cleveland knows what it will do at 2.

And so does everybody else.

Cleveland will select Heisman Trophy winner and two-way player Travis Hunter.

That's the universal view.

Yes, the other teams heard and read what Browns GM Andrew Berry said, insisting that no final decision has been made.

“A big part of this week and then going into next week is what we call 'scenario planning' and 'strategy planning,'' he said. "And that’s not to say that there hasn’t been any thought to it at this point, that would be disingenuous.''

Ah, yes. We wouldn't want to be "disingenuous.''

Which is a 12-letter word for "lying.''

Berry is doing most everything right here, as Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter joins Hunter as a viable candidate.

But he did call Hunter a "unicorn'' - that's a hint.

And that junk about "scenario planning''? When you draft No. 2, there aren't all that many scenarios to plan.

Said Berry: All options are on the board. ... We don’t have to start making decisions until really Thursday night.''

Right. Every though everybody already believes they've done just that.
