Browns Predicted to Sign 40-Year-Old Quarterback

The Cleveland Browns have struggled as of late, coming off a 3-14 season as the 2022 acquisition of Deshaun Watson continues to cause negative impacts in the organization.

Since being traded to the Browns and signing a fully guaranteed, five-year, $230 million contract, Watson has dealt with legal trouble and injuries, causing a nightmare scenario for Cleveland. The Browns' struggles led All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett to request a trade this offseason.

Watson twice ruptured his right Achilles tendon last season, first in Week 7 and again in early January. He missed a majority of the 2024 season, leading to a few different signal-callers getting reps for Cleveland.

Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson served as Watson's replacements. Heading into the 2025 season, as the Browns look to revamp their roster and Watson heals from a brutal injury, a move at quarterback is likely on their agenda.

According to Ben Rolfe at Pro Football Network, he predicts the Browns sign veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco, who played for the Indianapolis Colts last season.

Flacco, 40, passed for 12 touchdowns and 1,761 yards with a 65.3 completion percentage during the 2024 season.

Just one year before signing with the Colts, Flacco spent the 2023 season with the Browns. He passed for 13 touchdowns and 1,616 yards while leading Cleveland to a playoff berth, where the Browns lost 45-14 to the Houston Texans in an AFC wild-card game. He earned Comeback Player of the Year for his efforts.

Flacco is best known for his time with the Baltimore Ravens from 2008-18. During his time in Baltimore, he helped lead the franchise to a Super Bowl victory following the 2012 season.
