Among the candidates reportedly scheduled to interview for the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator role is New Orleans Saints' play-caller Klint Kubiak.

According to a report from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Monday the 38-year-old will interview Tuesday for the vacancy in Seattle, after he interviewed Monday for the same role with the Cleveland Browns

Kubiak, the son of former Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers head coach Gary Kubiak, previously served as passing game coordinator for the Niners in 2023 under Kyle Shanahan and Broncos in 2022 , while also having the title of quarterbacks coach for Nathaniel Hackett.

Former Saints quarterback Drew Brees spelled out why Kubiak would work in New Orleans after being hired on Feb. 11, 2024, and in doing so spoke to what Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald is looking for in his next offensive play-caller.

"You're trying to find an offense and a coordinator who would be a great fit with your QB," Brees said. "And then you start looking at the personnel and how you want to build your team, you're bot just operating in these silos of offense and defense and we're kind of doing whatever the heck we want on each side. You're definitely thinking about how those two work together and play a complimentary style of football."

Brees described Kubiak's offensive style similar to the Miami Dolphins and Niners, which is predicated on a "outside zone-run game, it's play-action and short, intermediate pass game as an extension of the run game" and aligns with the personnel Seattle has and what Macdonald wants to do.

"We want to mirror our football team," Macdonald said last Tuesday after fifing offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, alluding to wanting more usage out of the two second-round draft picks Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.

"We want our offense to be a physical unit and dictate trend to the defense. Play complimentary football and get the ball to our play-makers frequently in space and let our quarterback play fast. We were doing a lot of those things offensively, just decided to go in a different direction."
