Browns Should Stick to ‘Strike Fear’ Draft Plan

The Cleveland Browns have had their fling with Travis Hunter after his great workout at his Pro Day on April 4. Now, they have to turn their attention back to Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and make sure his name is called when they pick second in the first round.

Hunter has expressed his desire play wide receiver in the NFL. While he is capable of going both ways, it appears as though he will have packages on defense, but not be an every down player.

The problem with Hunter wanting to play wide receiver, the Browns don't exactly have a burner at quarterback to get him the football. Having the decision of going with a wide receiver, where there is uncertainly as to who is going to quarterback this team seems to be a waste.

However, the idea to pair Carter with Myles Garrett and put quality edge rushers on both sides of the line of scrimmage should be good enough to strike fear in the hearts of the best offensive lines.

The only drawback on Carter was his injury status. After returning from Indianapolis where he was visiting with league doctors, it was determined the injuries are healing nicely and that surgery will not be required. Having overcome that obstacle. there should be no question as to who the Browns will take at No. 2.

The Browns should take a wide receiver in the draft, but it should be in the later rounds after they secure their franchise quarterback, hopefully in the second round. Perhaps they still have a shot at Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss in the second round when they exercise their pick.
