The Indianapolis Colts and former Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson has endured a rough first two years in the NFL, starting in 15 games with 21 total touchdowns to 13 interceptions.
After only being the full time starter for one year at Florida, some growing pains were sure to come to Richardson through his first couple of years in the NFL.
This year, he must take a big step in his development if he wants to be a starter in this league.
Former head coach and crowned quarterback whisperer Bruce Arians appeared on a podcast to discuss his development, and had harsh words to say about the former Gator.
"Anthony I think needed two more years of college...as a passer. I didn't see him being able to beat anybody in a 2-minute and 3rd down. If you can't do that in the NFL you're just an average guy," said Arians on the High Volume Podcast.
Through the first two years for Richardson, he is correct. He goes on to say how he hears good things about his work ethic, which bodes well for him as there is now a position battle between him and Daniel Jones.
This situation for Richardson could prove to benefit him, and push him to improve vastly in camp before the season begins. He is one of the purest athletes at the quarterback position, and if he can improve his passing will be one of the hardest dual-threat quarterbacks to stop in this league.
The Colts first day of OTAs begins May 28th, where we will begin to see how Richardson is going to look heading into year three.
