CeeDee Lamb Trade Proposal to New England Patriots

The one thing the New England Patriots have to ask themselves when making moves is how will this impact Drake Maye. The No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft needs as much support as possible to reach his potential. Swinging a trade for someone such as CeeDee Lamb would certainly help.

The Dallas Cowboys star receiver is currently away from the team awaiting a new contract. He has skipped all of the offseason workouts and is in line for a massive extension.

Coming off a career season, CeeDee Lamb is likely looking to get a deal in the neighborhood of what Justin Jefferson signed with the Minnesota Vikings. His contract was record-setting, becoming the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

That isn’t something that the Cowboys have shown they are willing to do to this point. Could another team, such as the New England Patriots, be more willing to do so? Over at Bleacher Report, Brad Gagnon has suggested New England as a trade partner for Dallas.

What could a trade between the two teams look like? Gagnon has pitched a proposal of CeeDee Lamb going to the Patriots in exchange for rookie wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk and a first-round pick.

“The Patriots just used a high second-round pick on Polk, who scored nine touchdowns last season at Washington. But if they see an opportunity to upgrade massively in support of rookie Drake Maye, a quick flip could be in the cards…

This deal would allow Dallas raise a bunch of salary-cap space and draft capital while still landing a high-ceiling receiver, with the bonus of Lamb leaving the conference and joining a non-contender,” wrote Gagnon.

Moving on from a player as talented as CeeDee Lamb isn’t something that Jerry Jones wants to do. But if the team isn’t going to pony up the money to pay him long-term, getting assets back in return is the only alternative.

In this deal, they would get a high-upside young player in Polk, who has the tools to become a No. 1 receiver in the NFL. The first-round pick is very valuable given the current state of the New England Patriots; it wouldn’t shock anyone if they are in the top 10 in 2025, even with CeeDee Lamb in the mix.

As for the Patriots, they would be getting a bonafide star to funnel their passing attack through. Everyone else at wide receiver would fall into place, as they lack a true No. 1 option.

CeeDee Lamb leading the pass catchers and Rhamondre Stevenson leading the backfield would put Drake Maye in good hands as he starts his NFL career.
