The Chargers have decided on their new general manager.
Los Angeles is planning to hire Baltimore Ravens Director of Player Personnel Joe Hortiz as their new GM, replacing Tom Telesco, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Hortiz will be tasked with working alongside new head coach Jim Harbaugh, who was already hired.

Hortiz has spent his entire career working for the Ravens, having started in 1998. He has been in charge of pro personnel since 2019, having led the team’s college scouting before that.
This means Hortiz has worked with Ravens coach John Harbaugh and will now be working with Jim. There had been concerns about Jim’s relationship with whoever the Chargers ultimately did hire, so one would imagine the coach signed off on this or was at least aware of the possibility before taking the job.
Harbaugh has made his goal of moving to the NFL very clear. Hortiz has a big job ahead of him to help make it a reality.
