During a recent episode of her "Calm Down" podcast with Erin Andrews, NFL reporter Charissa Thompson shared that her contract with FOX had expired. Thompson has been a part of FOX's NFL coverage for several years, settling into a role on the Sunday pregame show while also doing sideline work.
Thompson will still have her job as the primary host of Amazon's Thursday Night Football, but losing the FOX job certainly represents some uncertainty her. Despite the difficult situation. Thompson posted some photos to her Instagram account recently.
The photos came from the Ruby Ranch, which she owns with her boyfriend Steven Cundari. Thompson enjoyed spending time with animals and around the farm before relaxing by a fire pit in her yard.
"I just have to say one thing, and this is also what I am going on and on about Fox, and I swear. I mean it's not just because my contract's up," Thompson began on the last "Calm Down" episode.
"I love Fox so much because my brother and my dad came to the Super Bowl, and Fox's family to me, so my own family like sharing in those moments. It was so fun and Fox just makes them feel so welcome and makes sure they're included in the events and everything. So I just would be remiss if I didn't mention how wonderful my extended work family is to my own family."
Thompson had been at FOX since 2013, and will now focus on the next chapter of her career. Amazon has extended its footprint with the NFL, expanding from the Thursday night package to an exclusive Black Friday game and one playoff game last year.
The shift to streaming services highlights a new approach for the NFL, as the league continues to innovate by meeting fans where they are to allow them to watch their favorite teams and players.
We'll see what the future holds for Thompson when it comes to continuing her broadcast career, but she's taking the FOX situation in stride while showing her appreciate for her colleagues and supporters during her time with the network.
