The Chicago Bears have had a busy offseason. GM Ryan Poles has transformed the offensive line, paving the way for new head coach Ben Johnson to have success. He has signed some young defensive pieces to extensions, solidifying the unit for the long term. This is a young team, and the draft is another opportunity to add quality building blocks for the future. Here is the 2025 NFL Draft preview for the Chicago Bears.

Chicago Bears 2025 NFL Draft Picks

The Chicago Bears have seven draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

  • Round 1: No. 10
  • Round 2: No. 39 (from Panthers)
  • Round 2: No. 41
  • Round 3: No. 72
  • Round 5: No. 148
  • Round 7: No. 233 (from Bengals)
  • Round 7: No. 240 (from Vikings through Browns)

The Chicago Bears don’t have many draft picks thanks to many of their trades. However, the picks they do have are very good. The trade with the Panthers is still paying off as the Bears have three picks in the top 50. Most of their day three picks were given up to remake their offensive line, but the team would rather have the proven veterans rather than sixth-round maybes. Poles could either stay put or use some of the premium picks to move up for the right player.

Team Needs

The Chicago Bears still need some help on their offensive line. They addressed the interior, but the tackle positions still have some question marks. Adding some depth would be good, but they could also look for an upgrade. Caleb Williams was sacked 68 times last year, and while some of them were on him, many of them were because of poor protection. Running back is also a need, but this class is very deep, and they should be able to get a quality back at some point.

On defense, they need to beef up their pass rush. Montez Sweat had a down year, but part of it was the lack of quality pass rushers on the line. We’ve seen how critical it is to disrupt the quarterback in the NFL. The team has good linebackers and a potentially elite secondary. If they can add more to the pass rush, the defense could get back to what this fan base is used to.

Mock Draft

  • Round 1: No. 10: Armand Membou OT Missouri
  • Round 2: No. 39: Nic Scourton Edge Texas A&M
  • Round 2: No. 41: TreVeyon Henderson RB Ohio State
  • Round 3: No. 72: Xavier Watts S Notre Dame
  • Round 5: No. 148: CJ West DL Indiana
  • Round 7: No. 233: Jake Briningstool TE Clemson
  • Round 7: No. 240: Jordan Hancock CB Ohio State

Mock Draft Analysis

This mock draft is the perfect example of why the Chicago Bears should avoid the temptation of Ashton Jeanty. I love Jeanty, but this running back class has plenty of other potentially elite players. In this mock draft, they get one of the top tackles in Membou and a solid edge rusher in Scourton. Then, they get Henderson out of Ohio State, who had a number of explosive runs throughout the College Football Playoff. Patience will pay off. If they get Jeanty, that’s fine, but it will also limit the talent they can get elsewhere.

The back half of the draft is building some depth in key spots. Getting a couple of other young secondary members helps with special teams and in case of injuries. West was solid for the Hoosiers this year during their surprise run. Overall, the Chicago Bears should be able to get some great players with their premium picks, but it will be interesting to see if they are seduced by Jeanty or whether they wait.

Final Thoughts

The Chicago Bears hope this is the year they finally get out of the NFC North basement. They ended the season on a high note, beating the Green Bay Packers. If they can continue to build a quality roster and Johnson is who we think he is, this team could make some noise in a tough NFC North.
