The 2-9 Las Vegas Raiders travel to Kansas City to take on the 10-1 Chiefs in a Black Friday divisional clash.
The Chiefs survived a scare against the Carolina Panthers, beating them on a time-expiring field goal. Eight of Kansas City's 10 wins have come by just one possession this season.
The Chiefs' defense has been dominant against the run, ranking third overall and first against the running back position. Offensively, K.C. has been middling both in the passing and running game, which can be largely attributed to the struggles of its two starting offensive tackles.
2024 hasn't gone the way the Raiders hoped. They have lost seven consecutive games, five of them in blowout fashion. Starting quarterback Gardner Minshew broke his collarbone last week and will miss the remainder of the season, forcing Las Vegas to turn to second year man Aidan O'Connell.
These final seven games will be O'Connell's last chance to show that he can be a franchise quarterback. One bright spot for the Raiders this season has been their defense, which ranks in the top half of the league against both the pass and run.
Here are the best odds and bets for this matchup.
*Odds from BetMGM and subject to change
Chiefs: -700
Raiders: +500
The Chiefs have become notorious for making things difficult for themselves, whether it's because of turnovers, penalties or blown assignments.
It's rarely easy, but their talent and experience usually wins out in the end. K.C.'s defense should smother the subpar Raiders' offense, but will need to come up with an answer for standout rookie Brock Bowers, as the Chiefs have surrendered the most yards to the tight end position in the NFL.
The underrated Las Vegas defense could make life hard for K.C.'s offense as it has in the past, but I can't envision the Raiders' offense being able to outscore the Chiefs. However, I have little reason to believe that the Chiefs can cover a lofty 12.5-point spread, so I'll bet on the Raiders to cover and avoid the moneyline.
Chiefs: -12.5 (-115)
Raiders: +12.5 (-105)
The Raiders usually play K.C. close, and the Chiefs can't be trusted to play clean football. The Chiefs win, but Las Vegas covers.
Over: -110
Under: -110
The Raiders' offense has been held in the teen point totals in four of its last six games and has a bad matchup against a good K.C. defense. Las Vegas' defense usually gives the Chiefs fits, so betting the under seems like an easy choice here.
