Colin Cowherd Reacts To Earthquake Hitting During Live Show

Colin Cowherd has worked in California long enough to be unfazed by earthquakes.

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near San Diego on Monday afternoon. California residents flocked to social media to share their accounts, but Cowherd didn't even notice.

During The Herd with Colin Cowherd, recorded live in Los Angeles, Cowherd acknowledged the earthquake after the fact.

"So apparently there was just an earthquake just north of San Diego. I didn't feel it," Cowherd said, via Awful Announcing.

Jordan Schultz, who was with Cowherd in the studio, confirmed that he felt the earthquake as the host interviewed NFL insider Albert Breer.

"It was during the interview," Schultz told Cowherd. "And I looked at you, and you were locked in. I thought, either he feels it and he's not gonna acknowledge it, or he just doesn't [feel it]."

Cowherd and Schultz said the building is supposedly built to better handle a rolling earthquake. The FS1 host wondered how he missed the tremor.

"It's kind of earthquake-proof," Cowherd said. "This was like a 5.2, which is a pretty substantial earthquake. But I was so fixated on draft talk with Albert Breer. As the world was shaking, I didn't ..."

"You were moving, by the way," Schultz told a surprised Cowherd. "Your mic was moving, but you weren't. You were locked in. Impressive."

"That's so weird," Cowherd responded.

Cowherd is apparently a seasoned pro at earthquakes now. In July 2019, he was on air during what he labeled his first earthquake experience. While he didn't panic, he at least noticed and felt his desk moving.

Anything can happen on live radio and TV. In November, Cowherd carried on as the lights went out inside his studio. However, he wasn't able to shoulder through an illness two months ago.

With the NFL Draft and NBA and NHL playoffs looming, Cowherd is simply too focused on sports to worry about some shaking. As of now, there are no known reports of injuries or damage stemming from Monday's earthquake.
