Commanders 'Ideal' Second-Round Draft Pick Revealed

The Washington Commanders will enter the draft with just five selections, a far cry from the 10 the franchise had in its pocket 12 months ago.

That means there is a big premium on getting those picks right, and with several positions in need of reinforcing, it is interesting to consider just which way the franchise goes.

Both sides of the ball need help, and for NFL.com's Chad Reuter, he's named two ideal fits for every team in the first two rounds, and when it comes to the Commanders, one such pick is receiver Tre Harris from Ole Miss.

"While Washington has upgraded its receiver corps with the addition of Deebo Samuel, quarterback Jayden Daniels still needs a big-bodied big-play threat like Harris to pair with Terry McLaurin and round out the offense," Reuter writes.

Harris is coming off a productive last three seasons with Ole Miss, totaling at least 900 yards and seven touchdowns in each year, so that kind of production would be welcomed in Washington.

A solid route runner along with good physicality to win contested catches, plus he possesses the speed needed to win on go routes, along with the ability to be productive on shorter routes means Daniels has another deep threat, but also one who can win on underneath routes as well.

Slotting him alongside Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel gives the Commanders three genuine options in the passing game, plus tight end Zach Ertz.

Taking Harris in the second round feels like good value for an offense that needs some extra help behind McLaurin and Samuel.
