Dak Prescott's 2024 season with the Dallas Cowboys ended in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons after he tore part of his hamstring off the bone.
The injury saw Dak spend the remaining weeks on the sidelines before getting surgery to repair his injured hamstring, but there wasn't a fear that he would miss any preseason time in 2025.
With OTAs just around the corner in a little over a month, many are wondering where Dak is in his recovery and if he could participate in any or all of the program.
And speaking at a Children’s Cancer Fund event in Dallas, Prescott offered a positive yet cautious update on his surgically repaired hamstring.
"I'm getting close to where I want to be," Prescott said. "I don't want to put a percentage on it, we've got team activities coming up, imagine myself being involved in some sort, if not all. But then again, understanding my age, what I went through, so not rushing anything, but I'm where I want to be.
"If I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that."
In truth, there is nothing to gain from Dak going out and participating in activities before he is truly ready.
Dallas' first day of the offseason begins on April 14. OTAs start on May 19, and mandatory minicamp starts on June 10. Dak feels confident he'll be involved in most of those, which is positive, but just because he can, doesn't mean he should.
The Cowboys will clearly take the cautious approach with No. 4 as the last thing they want is for him to break down again, with training camp the big date circled on the Dallas calendar.
Dak's in a good spot in his recovery, and he's ready to attack the offseason. It's just a matter of how hard the Cowboys will push him before the real stuff starts in June.
