Cowboys Deuce Vaughn Moved, Rookie Lineman Added
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys' high hopes for Deuce Vaughn will have to be realized at another time.

As the team is juggling its roster for Sunday's regular-season finale at the Washington Commanders and for the NFL playoffs after that, the rookie running back Vaughn on Wednesday was shuffled off to IR.

Vaughn will now be out for a minimum of four weeks, meaning he wouldn't be available again until the Cowboys play in the Super Bowl.

Moving on up to the roster, meanwhile, is rookie defensive lineman Junior Fehoko.

All of this is also occurring as the Cowboys have signed old pal brought in old pal La’el Collins, though he is of course opening up on the practice squad - as is now standard NFL procedure - and so he does not yet have an impact on the 53-man roster.

The rookie Fehoko has not played in a game this season after the Cowboys took him in the fourth round of the recent NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Vaughn has spent the year on the 53-man roster but has generally been inactive. The diminutive Vaughn will finish his rookie season with 23 carries and seven receptions, for both 40 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving.

The Vaughn move could signal good health for Rico Dowdle (ankle) ... and of course there will be fun speculation about the idea of signing veteran Dalvin Cook, just cut by the New York Jets ... an issue we touch on below ...
