FRISCO - That Dallas-to-Washington pipeline strikes again!

The Dallas Cowboys parted ways with Michael Gallup a year ago, leading him to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders ... before he announced his retirement at age 29.

The wide receiver had shown flashes earlier in his career hinting at potential major production, making it a tough decision for Dallas ... but an injury issue seemed to never quite go away.

But now? Gallup is back in the NFL, signing with Dallas' arch-rivals in the NFC East, the Washington Commanders.

Gallup posted 1,107 yards in 2019, but never hit that same mark again at The Star, totaling 843 yards the next season. From 2021 to 2023, he did not reached 500 yards in a season.

Injuries played a role in that decline. Regardless, Gallup was set to compete for a fresh start when he signed with the Raiders.

Again, though, before any real offseason work began, Gallup abruptly stepped away from the game. After sitting out the 2024 season though, he is ready to get back on the field.

The former Cowboys receiver recently met with the Commanders and also had a visit scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks.

In Washington, the top guys are Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel, with another ex-Cowboys receiver in Noah Brown also in play.

So Gallup will be walking into a competition for a spot on the top of the depth chart. He may need a strong showing in any offseason work to jockey for a real playing time.

Washington is coached by Dan Quinn, the former Dallas defensive coordinator. And of course, his roster in the last 12 months has been dotted with former Cowboys players.

As for the Cowboys, they continue navigating their own wide receiver questions. They have done little to address a clear need for a No. 2 behind CeeDee Lamb through free agency, meaning a new target for Dak Prescott could be coming in the NFL Draft. ... and a new enemy may be signing on in DC.
