Cowboys 'Scared To Trade' Rumor Shut Down By NFC East Insider

FRISCO - Are the front offices of the four rivals in the NFC East "scared'' of dealing with one another?

The Dallas Cowboys are no strangers to NFL Draft trades ... and they've even made them with the Philadelphia Eagles in recent years.

Nothing to be "scared'' of.

How about the New York Giants?

How about the Washington Commanders?

The Giants have it easy here, in a sense. With the No. 3 pick, they seem poised to take Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, one of the two best prospects in the class and an excellent pass rusher destined to find success with Brian Burns and Dexter Lawrence by his side.

They don't need to be clever ... even as some think passing up on Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is a risk.

Still, New York is linked to numerous trade opportunities - in Round 1. Maybe they are poised to take Alabama’s Jalen Milroe or Mississippi’s Jaxson Dart if they can make a trade up.

And if the Giants GM, Joe Schoen, does so?

The Washington Commanders are not "scared'' of taking that call, as Commanders general manager Adam Peters recently illustrated.

“You think about that (in-division rivalry), but I think it’s, like a lot of things, case by case,” Peters said. “What is the trade, what is the best move for your team? I don’t personally believe in being scared about trading with a team within your division.''

That's good news for the Commanders ... and they've proven it.

Last season, Washington received a handful of picks from Philadelphia for the rights to draft cornerback Cooper DeJean. The Commanders eventually used their Day 2 picks from that deal to draft corner Mike Sainristil and tight end Ben Sinnott (a reasonable swap in hindsight).

The evidence is there. Fair trade. No reason to be scared.

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are absolutely poised to trade down from No. 12 in the first round, sources tell CowboysCountry.com, and are "laying the groundwork'' for that as you read this.

Meanwhile, ESPN's Adam Schefter is suggesting that foes should be "scared'' of trading with Philadelphia because of the acumen of GM Howie Roseman.

The reality? That's not how it works. Teams can "steal'' from Howie, but they can't be "scared'' of him. And the evidence inside the NFC East proves they are not.
