The Los Angeles Rams announced this week that they will be moving on from former All-Pro receiver Cooper Kupp.

Making this announcement early in free agency, they intend to take time to leverage him in trade opportunities before considering his release.

Now that the Rams have signed free agent receiver Davante Adams (two years, $46 million), the decision to move on from Kupp - via trade or cut - is more inevitable by the minute.

Although Kupp's production has seen a decline ... and fans have let him hear about it ... the veteran receiver still believes he can play at an elite level.

"The way I see myself is I’m ascending, even if people on the outside say I’m descending,” Kupp said to LA Times. “But they aren’t in our rooms. They aren’t hearing our game plans. They don’t see our practices. All they see is what happens on Sunday, and sometimes they don’t even see that ..."

Kupp continued: "That’s not what defines a player. That’s not going to define who I am, certainly. I’m not going to allow that ... I know that I’m moving in the right direction.”

The leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns in 2021 will now have to channel that mentality to his new job elsewhere.

An early suitor mentioned in the Kupp rumors has been the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas is seeking depth at the receiver position alongside CeeDee Lamb, and could value Kupp's leadership.

A red flag, however, is his age and injury concern. Kupp has missed at least five games each of the last three seasons.

Wherever he plays next, he is hoping what he sees in himself can still translate out on the field.

"I said at the beginning of last year that if I didn’t believe I could play football at a very high level ... I don’t want to be playing football anymore,” Kupp said.

“And I can still do it. I want to do it for four more years at least, and I plan to be playing at a high level. That’s just where I see myself. When I see myself on film, I’m progressing. Things are moving forward.”

Kupp will turn 32 this summer. He has spent all eight seasons of his career with the Rams, but has not surpassed 1,000 yards receiving since that historic triple crown year in 2021.

Whether or not the "Kupp of old" can make a revival in 2025, the veteran receiver is betting on himself moving into this new chapter of his career.
