In the wee hours of the 2025 NFL Draft eve night, free agent receiver Tyler Lockett announced he is signing with the Tennessee Titans - the team who will select first in Thursday's first round.
Presumptive No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward, a quarterback out of Miami, will wake up to learn his potential new team has gifted him a new target for his rookie season.
Lockett himself broke the news via his X post, saying: "I’m excited to be a Tennessee Titan!! I’m super thankful and grateful Let’s get it!! God you get all the glory!!"
Later, details confirmed the one-year contract at $4 million, with the chance to be worth up to $6 million in incentives.
Lockett, who will turn 33 before the season starts, finds a new home in Tennessee after spending 10 quality seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.
He had received a lot of buzz around being a potential fit with the Dallas Cowboys this free agency ... but now the attention turns to whether Jerry Jones and Brian Schottenheimer can find their "explosive second-option" receiver in the Draft.
"Schotty", Dallas' new head coach, had previous ties with Lockett as he was the offensive coordinator in Seattle for many years under Pete Carroll.
Although he saw near-career lows in yards per reception and touchdowns last season, Lockett was one of the top remaining WR options on the free agency market leading up to the Draft.
Even at his age, Lockett's durability has been impressive; he has played at least 15 games every year of his career and has only missed two games over the last four seasons.
The Titans add a reliable veteran to their receiving corps that features Calvin Ridley and Van Jefferson for the 2025 season. Their potential franchise QB will be the team's next addition come Thursday night.
