Dallas Cowboys Veteran Calls Out The Coaching Staff

It wouldn't be a Dallas Cowboys anything without at least a little drama, right?

As Brandin Cooks prepares to hit free agency following a two-year stint in Dallas, the veteran wideout maintained that he was open to returning to the franchise but made sure to point out that he was unhappy with his usage in the team's offense.

"I'm expecting a good free agency since this is the first time that I would be a free agent in my career, but I'm also open to returning to Dallas. At the end of the day I'm just trying to win," Cooks told Josina Anderson. "I am fully healthy and have nothing to hide. If a quarterback wants to go throw somewhere, I could get on a plane and catch for him right now," he added.

"I have a good relationship with Dak [Prescott], the Jones family and Cee Dee [Lamb], it's just one of those things where they have to focus on what they have to get done first too," the 31-year-old concluded. "I would love to play with the Cowboys, at the same time they would have to use me right. I don't think they fully used me to my strengths."

Cooks also said that he'd like to see more pre-snap motion in the offense to better utilize his speed and give the defense some different looks — something he believes new head coach Brian Schottenheimer could potentially do.

"I work well from that. I think Schotty has got some flavor and will put his touches on the offense now too," he explained.

Cooks is entering Year 12 after being selected by the Saints with the 20th overall pick back in 2014.

In six of his NFL seasons, the former Oregon State star has recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards — including four straight from 2015-2018.

Cooks has spent time with the Saints, Patriots, Rams, Texans and Cowboys over the course of his career. And he may add another team to that list if he feels Dallas isn't willing to put him in the best position to succeed moving forward.
