The Baltimore Ravens (5-2) have the best rushing offense in the NFL and it isn't close.
Through the first seven weeks of the season, the Ravens are averaging a league-leading 210.9 rushing yards per game. The next closest is the Philadelphia Eagles with 166.7 rushing yards per game.
Baltimore's success on the ground isn't a complete surprise as the team has always had a run-first mindset, but its dominance has reached another level, and it's thanks to running back Derrick Henry.
Many had debated whether the 30-year-old was going to take a step back this season, but it almost seems like he's done the opposite.
Henry is not only on pace to have the best season of his nine-year NFL career, but arguably the best in NFL history.
Following his third 150-plus rushing yard performance of the season in Week 7, Henry has now rushed for 873 yards on 134 carries (6.5 yards per carry) and eight touchdowns.
That puts Henry on pace to finish the season with 2,120 rushing yards, which would break his 2,027-yard career high and Eric Dickerson's 2,105-yard single-season record.
It still goes to show how difficult it will be to break the record, which has gone untouched for 40 years. Dickerson set the single-season rushing record in 1984 when there was only 16 games. Henry is on pace to record just 15 more rushing yards in a 17-game season.
Nonetheless, Henry has been impressive, and the Ravens have the rest of the NFL kicking itself for not taking a chance on him this offseason.
Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz revealed he got a text from a general manager whose team briefly considered signing Henry in the offseason.
"We probably should've taken a longer look at him," the GM said.
There's no going back now, and Henry may just turn out to be the best signing of the offseason.
