If one believes the gamblers and the oddsmakers, Travis Hunter is going to be a member of the Cleveland Browns on April 24.
Hunter won the Heisman Trophy Award in 2024 as he had a great season doubling as a wide receiver and a cornerback. Oddsmakers have Hunter at -130 to be drafted by the Browns.
During most of the offseason, Penn State's Abdul Carter was the odds on favorite to end up in Cleveland. But he is at +100 according to DraftKings.com.
Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward is -5000 to go No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans. It would be a tremendous surprise if Ward did not go with the top pick.
Now, people are going to have to think about that second pick with Cleveland. What was once a foregone conclusion with Carter has now changed. The difference is ever so slight, but the odds are in Hunter's favor.
Whomever the Browns add will improve their roster immediately. It can be argued Hunter can help on both sides of the football, but chances are he is going to play one position and perhaps have a package or two on the other side.
Carter, meanwhile, would bolster a defensive line that already features All-Pro Myles Garrett. Carter's selection would be a safe choice as well.
Shedeur Sanders is the other choice for the Browns and the odds of Sanders going to the team are at +750. The field has odds greater than +750 to be the second selection.
