The NFL season has turned to postseason play, with the top teams in the league standings battling to hoist the Super Bowl LIX Lombardi Trophy.
As the NFL playoffs unfold, former players, media members and fans have discussed their predictions for the postseason bracket.
Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was the latest to drop his Super Bowl LIX prediction, naming the Detroit Lions as his favorite to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
Brees mentioned that he "loves" the Lions' journey as well as head coach Dan Campbell, who he previously played alongside during his 20-year Hall of Fame career.
"I'm picking Lions-Bills," said Brees, per DJ Siddiqi at Forbes. "I'm rooting for the Lions because I love their journey and everything they stand for. They remind me a lot of New Orleans and our journey, especially early on. A city that's had to overcome so much and you're representing the city with everything that you do... I love Dan Campbell, Aaron Glenn, all the guys, I played with half of their coaching staff," says Brees. "So I want to see those guys win."
The Lions enter the NFL playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a 15-2 record. They ended the regular season on a three-game win streak, with wins over the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and San Francisco 49ers.
Detroit has a star-studded bunch, most notably on the offensive end, with players like Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Here's a look at the NFC stars' stats heading into the postseason:
- Goff (quarterback): 37 touchdowns and 4,629 yards with a 72.4 completion percentage
- Gibbs (running back): 16 touchdowns and 1,412 yards on 250 carries
- St. Brown (wide receiver): 12 touchdowns and 1,293 yards on 115 receptions.
Detroit also has a couple of studs on the defensive end, such as Kerby Joseph, who leads the team with nine interceptions and linebacker Jack Campbell, who has posted a team-leading 131 tackles.
