The Kansas City Chiefs want to improve their pass rush with their front four next season. The Chiefs have done a great job getting pressure on the quarterback, but when they have done that, they send more than five players after the quarterback. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo wants to do a better job of that and can find players in the 2025 NFL Draft to help that.

Spagnuolo will keep a good eye on the defensive line positions in this year's draft. The Chiefs' defense was great last season, but they want to get better and elite. When it mattered the most, the Chiefs were not able to get after the quarterback or stop the run. That is one thing the Chiefs want to do. The Chiefs want to fix their flaws on the defensive line to help their secondary and give more opportunities to their offense to score.

The team has one of the best, if not the best, defensive players in the NFL with Chris Jones. Jones is dominant on the defensive line, but they have not found another defensive tackle who has benefited from playing next to Jones.

That all can change with draft prospect Deone Walker out of the University of Kentucky. Walker is one of the best defensive tackles coming out of the draft and can be a problem for opposing quarterbacks.

"A defensive lineman with rare traits, Walker might require a heavier lean on projection over tape. He’s tight-hipped and too upright to sink in and command the gaps as an even-front defensive tackle. His success rate rises once he’s able to kick out wider in the alignment and engage in more man-to-man battles," said NFL analyst Lance Zierlein.

"Consistent pocket pressure could come if he starts playing with better aggression to overwhelm protection with physical gifts. The tape was better in 2023, and there were times in 2024 that his conditioning showed up as an issue. Walker’s traits and upside could make him a more consistent NFL talent if he improves his technique and ramps up his motor."

Walker can also be a player who will benefit from having Jones as his teammate. He can learn from Jones on and off the field and can get after the quarterback with Jones.
