Jalen Hurts, fresh off winning Super Bowl MVP, will be getting a chance to throw to a new receiver with some hardware of his own.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Thursday that the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. The two sides have agreed to a one-year contract, Rapoport adds.
Marshall, a second-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2021, is best known for his standout college career at LSU. He was part of the Tigers team that won the CFP national championship in the 2019 season, teaming up with Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase as quarterback Joe Burrow’s top targets.
Unfortunately though, Marshall has yet to meet expectations at the NFL level. With only one career touchdown catch to his name, Marshall has not done much outside of a 2022 season for the Panthers in which he caught 28 passes for 490 yards.
Marshall was waived by Carolina before the 2024 campaign and briefly ended up on the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers before also getting cut. He then made his way to the practice squad of the Las Vegas Raiders and was promoted to the active roster for seven total games (though Marshall managed a mere three catches for 41 yards overall).
The good news however is that Marshall is still only 24 years old with solid height (at 6-foot-2) and speed (logging a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine). For the Eagles, who are coming off their victory in Super Bowl LIX, Marshall becomes the latest former college star whom they have signed this offseason.
