Eagles Star Sends Strong Message After Receiving NFL Punishment

The Philadelphia Eagles put on a show in Super Bowl LIX, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22. 

Philadelphia finished its dominant postseason run with wins over the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders and Kansas City Chiefs. 

Following the Eagles' Super Bowl victory, the NFL reviewed the tape and issued a fine to linebacker Jalyx Hunt. 

Hunt was fined $5,690 for a bow-and-arrow celebration after sacking Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. 

After receiving the fine, Hunt encouraged fans to match the amount he's set to pay the league to support a cause named "Barbers Who Care Inc." 

Fans helped the donation amount hit $22,445 at the time of this writing.  

"Wow... thanks to y’all we hit their goal in under 24 hours," Hunt said. "So thankful for everyone who helped turn my fine into something positive for the community, and an extra thank you to Rob McElhenney for leading the way. Philly is truly special!" 

Hunt also mentioned that actor Rob McElhenney was involved in helped reach the donation amount. McElhenney reached out to Hunt when the NFL originally issued the fine. 

"Hey Jalyx Hunt, if this is true hit me up," McElhenney said. "Sorry, to clarify… do not hit me. DM me. I’ll pay this fine. Worth every penny." 

Aside from the mishap fine that Hunt received, the Eagles defense was flawless in the Super Bowl. They led a 24-0 shutout in the first half and forced three turnovers on Mahomes, who's widely viewed as the best quarterback in the NFL.
