Former New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams has not had a very enjoyable last few seasons.
Adams played with three teams over the last four years and failed to accomplish much as a player. He did not contribute much to the receivers' room in any of his stops.
Adams joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 and the team lost a lot of games. They went through two different head coaches. After a tumultuous final season in Vegas he was traded to the Jets before the deadline last season.
He was reunited with ex-Jet quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The two played together in Green Bay. However, the Jets were playing horrendous football, fired their head coach and general manager and ultimately moved on from both stars.
The Jets released both former Packers at the end of the season. The receiver Adams would sign with the Los Angeles Rams during free agency. Rodgers is still a free agent with an alleged offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During an interview with Mike Silver of TheAthletic.com, Adams said if this season is as bad as the last few, "it means that I was the one making those organizations dysfunctional" because the Rams have given no indication they are like the Raiders or the Jets.
“This is like true optimism versus just hoping," Adams said. "Obviously, knowing what I know about the management there, the players, the team success they’ve had in recent years and just over time . . . those are usually the type of teams that have stressed success. The most important thing was [joining] a good, winning team.”
Adams believes he will team with Puka Nacua to form a duo that's going to be too much for opposing defenses to handle. There were similar thoughts about the impact he would have in his last stop with the Jets.
He thought being paired with Garrett Wilson would be a success and all that resulted was him getting jettisoned out of town.
