The Las Vegas Raiders have had their share of one-hit-wonder wide receivers over the years. Fans remember when Hunter Renfrow reached 1,000 yards in 2021 or when Nelson Agholor had a career year in 2020, but oftentimes, solid pass-catchers fall by the wayside in the minds of even the most dedicated fans.
One name that should still strike a chord within Raider Nation, however, is Zay Jones, who played three years for the franchise. Although Jones has not suited up for the Silver and Black since 2021, he is still hanging around on NFL rosters. On Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals announced that they were re-signing Jones to a one-year, $4.4 million contract.
Jones is immortalized in Raiders history after his walk-off touchdown in the team's first-ever win at Allegiant Stadium with a crowd in attendance. "Big Play Zay" was a pivotal part of the Raiders' playoff run in 2021 as he totaled 546 receiving yards and a touchdown that season.
He left the following year in free agency for the Jaguars, and he recorded a career-high 823 receiving yards in his first season in Jacksonville. However, he has struggled to stay on the field in recent seasons due to a variety of issues.
Now, he'll have the opportunity to prove himself once again as a Cardinal on a decently expensive one-year deal. Although he is not an all-time great in the Raiders' organization, he fits into the category of, "Once a Raider, always a Raider."
