Beyond their relationship as teammates, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce are close personal friends off the football field, and they’re soon to be business partners.
The QB-TE duo have combined for 841 catches, 9,910 yards, and 75 touchdowns across 130 games, including the regular season and playoffs, and they’ve won three Super Bowl championships together.
So it should come as no surprise that Kelce and Mahomes decided to go into business together.
The Chiefs’ Pro Bowl duo are partnering with Noble 33 to open a restaurant together — 1587 Prime, a Kansas City-based steakhouse that will be housed in the Loews Kansas City Hotel and will feature — and the new eatery finally has a confirmed opening date.
As reported by People.com on Tuesday, 1587 Prime (a tribute to Mahomes and Kelce’s jersey numbers) will open this summer ahead of the 2025 NFL season.
The players announced last year their plans to open the bistro, and fans have been waiting ever since for a firm timeline on when to expect a grand opening.
“[It’s] just another thing that we want to bring to Kansas City, to be able to show our appreciation for the city, knowing how much they love their food and how much they love their football,” Kelce told People.com last April.
1587 Prime will reportedly have 238 seats, a 20-seat first-floor bar area, private dining rooms, semi-private dining rooms, a world-class chef’s kitchen, and a jaw-dropping meat display,” according to Noble 33.
The main dining room will feature red marble tabletops, the entrance of the establishment will imitate a stadium tunnel, and there will reportedly be custom art that pays tribute to Mahomes’ and Kelce’s career accomplishments.
