New York Jets star Breece Hall has been mentioned as a potential trade candidate leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, and much of that speculation stems from some recent comments made by new head coach Aaron Glenn.
Glenn told reporters last week that the Jets plan to use a committee approach at running back with Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. With Hall entering a contract year, it is possible that the Jets will want to see what they can get for the dynamic playmaker and turn their attention to re-signing other core players like Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson.
If the Jets do decide to shop Hall in trade talks, here are five teams they might want to call:
Denver Broncos
Sean Payton appeared to hit a home run when he drafted Bo Nix last year. The arrow is undoubtedly pointing up for Denver's offense, but Javonte Williams was the team's leading rusher last season with 513 yards. He has since signed with the Dallas Cowboys.
Perhaps Payton believes in the potential of Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime, but the thought of Hall playing a Darren Sproles-esque role in Payton's offense should be enough to give defensive coordinators nightmares.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys signed the aforementioned Williams to a one-year, $3M contract last month. As of now, he is the top option on their depth chart. Dallas also recently brought in Miles Sanders after his disastrous tenure with the Carolina Panthers.
Williams averaged 3.7 yards per carry last season and 3.6 the year before while playing in 33 of 34 possible games. Sanders posted similar numbers in Carolina. Dallas could look to draft a running back, but there is no question Hall would be a massive upgrade over what it has now.
Chicago Bears
D'Andre Swift sprinkled in a few huge games last season, but he did not live up to the three-year, $24M contract the Bears gave him. He appeared in all 17 games and finished with 959 rushing yards, 386 receiving yards and just six total touchdowns. Swift averaged 3.8 yards per carry, which was the lowest mark of his career.
New Bears head coach Ben Johnson coached Swift with the Detroit Lions, so he may be confident he can get more out of the sixth-year back. Hall has many more Jahmyr Gibbs-like qualities, however. The sky would be the limit for Hall in Johnson's offense.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers chose not to re-sign Najee Harris, who landed with the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year deal. That leaves Jaylen Warren atop the depth chart, which is a new role for the former undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State.
Warren has good hands and can make players miss in the open field, but he also battled injuries last season and seemed to fall out of favor with Mike Tomlin at times. Though the Steelers are probably more focused on their quarterback situation at the moment, Hall would be an intriguing fit for them.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Travis Etienne had a wildly disappointing season in 2024 after rushing for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first two years. The former Clemson star averaged 3.8 yards per carry and finished with just 812 total yards from scrimmage in 15 games.
Etienne could bounce back this year, but the thought of Tank Bigsby as an early-down back with Hall serving as the complement should sound quite appealing to the Jags.
