Five reasons the Chiefs will win Super Bowl LIX

Thanks to late-game heroics by Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs knocked out the Buffalo Bills 32-29 on Sunday night to advance to Super Bowl LIX.

With the win, the Chiefs now have the chance to win their third consecutive Super Bowl, something that has never been done in the Super Bowl era.

On Sunday, Mahomes once again proved himself a magician, pacing the Chiefs on a nine-play, 36-yard drive that put Harrison Butker in position to kick a game-winning 35-yard field goal with 3:33 left in the game that would prove to be the difference in a back-and-forth matchup with the Bills.

So why will the Chiefs win their upcoming Super Bowl matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles? Here are five reasons.

1. It's the Chiefs

Seriously, this is a battle-tested team and one that has shown it can already withstand any kind of pressure the brightest lights can bring. Mahomes and company somehow always find a way to win, no matter the opponent.

Kansas City has won eight consecutive postseason games and hasn't lost in January or February since 2022 (more about that in a moment). They have the confidence and talent needed to win when the pressure is at its greatest.

2. Kansas City has already beaten Philadelphia in the Super Bowl once

Don't forget, it was just two years ago that the Chiefs started their Super Bowl run with a 38-35 win over Philadelphia in Super Bowl LVII. Then, just as now, Kansas City found a way to win the game, with the Chiefs piecing together a 12-play, 66-yard drive to put Butker in position to kick the game-winning field goal with :08 left.

3. Kareem Hunt's emergence

Kansas City started the season without Kareem Hunt on its active roster. However, the veteran running back is now a big part of the offense and gives the Chiefs a big weapon for the Eagles to have to worry about.

After Isiah Pacheco's injury that caused him to miss two months of the regular season, Hunt has emerged as the Chiefs' top threat in the backfield, scoring the game's first touchdown to go along with 64 yards against Buffalo.

4. Steve Spagnuolo can design a defense

Philadelphia will bring a rugged rushing game into Super Bowl LIX, but Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has a knack for being able to design a defense to take away the opponent's biggest strength. With a week off before the big game, Spagnuolo will have enough time to likely come up with a surprise or two for Saquon Barkley and crew.

5. "Never satisfied"

Travis Kelce said it best after the Chiefs beat the Bills, telling Jim Nantz on CBS that Kansas City was "never satisfied," despite the two previous Super Bowl wins. This Chiefs team once again seems hungry to prove itself as the NFL's best team, and they are making it very clear they are serious about making history and winning their third straight title.
