The Tennessee Titans have become known in recent years as a graveyard for once-great NFL wide receivers. Randy Moss, Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins are all Hall of Fame players that found their way to Nashville toward the end of their careers but limped into the finish line with the Titans.
Julio Jones was a different story, as he still managed a solid season for Tennessee in 2021 and leveraged it into two more contracts with other NFL teams in the following years. After not signing with a team last season, however, Jones announced his retirement on Friday after 13 years in the NFL.
During the 2021 season, Jones contributed a respectable 31 catches for 434 yards and a touchdown, as well as a six-catch, 62-yard performance in the playoffs against the Cincinnati Bengals. While he was far from the player that he was in Atlanta, he showed enough to be signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles in successive seasons.
Jones finished his legendary NFL career with an astounding 914 catches, 13,703 receiving yards and 66 touchdowns. His seven Pro Bowl appearances and five All-Pro selections should easily land him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the Tennessee Titans will always be a part of his journey to Canton, Ohio.
