The New York Giants moved back into the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday, selecting Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.

The Giants packaged their 2025 second-round pick (No. 34), a third-rounder (No. 99), and a 2026 third-round pick to trade up with the Texans and re-enter the first round. With the No. 25 pick, they selected Dart, passing on Shedeur Sanders.

Dart was an All-SEC selection last year, passing for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns and just six interceptions with Ole Miss.

"There's a process for when he gets here to develop. I don't expect him to know everything off the bat. It's a hard position to play and a hard position to coach," Giants head coach Brian Daboll said of Dart. "He has the traits that we look for and covet in a guy to be able to learn and grow."

Dart joins a quarterback room that already includes veterans Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson. The insertion of a first-round QB makes things a little more interesting but Daboll said the team will roll with Wilson as their starter out of the gate.

"Russ will be our starter and that's how it will be once we get started here in the spring," Daboll said after the pick.

Wilson, a ten-time Pro Bowler, signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Giants in March. He spent last season with the Steelers, going 6-5 as the starter while passing for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions.
