Giants have one underrated playmaker entering a contract year
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants have a few budding stars on the offensive side. The unit severely underperformed last season, however, the G-Men are hoping their upgrade at quarterback this offseason can spark growth and propel their playmakers to success.

One of those underrated playmakers is fourth-year slot receiver Wan’Dale Robinson. The 2022 second-round pick has slowly emerged as one of the team’s most crucial players on the offensive side of the ball. Robinson is entering a contract year in 2025, intensifying the pressure he faces to establish himself as an irreplaceable presence in New York’s offense.

Giants WR Wan’Dale Robinson is entering a contract year

Coming off a career year, Robinson is aiming to earn himself a second contract in 2025. He totaled career-highs with 93 receptions and 699 yards in 2024, finishing second on the Giants in receiving. As a slot receiver, it’s easy to overlook Robinson, but he is a crucial member of the offense, gaining ugly yardage underneath and serving as a dependable intermediate receiving option.

Slot receivers nowadays make a pretty penny. Buffalo Bills WR Khalil Shakir is a perfect example, as he signed a four-year, $53 million deal this offseason, despite never totaling over 900 yards in a season.

Robinson has had similar production, totaling 525 yards in 2023 and 699 yards in 2024 — with one of the worst quarterback rooms in the NFL. His career 176 receptions and 1,451 yards across 38 games are impressive.

With a breakout campaign in 2025, Robinson could be shooting for Shakir money in the 2026 offseason. From the Giants’ perspective, though, they should be diligent in the upcoming NFL Draft, adding a rookie playmaker who could potentially step up in case Robinson departs next offseason.

Robinson is a sharp route runner and a shifty runner after the catch. With Russell Wilson under center, the Giants will hope that his skill set can finally be maximized.
