Giants reportedly like surprising NFL Draft QB

The New York Giants may have an emerging preference in the NFL Draft to address the quarterback position, but it is not Shedeur Sanders.

The Giants are fans of Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, according to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. Giants head coach Brian Daboll is said to be a fan of Dart, which may be driving the interest.

Dart would not be in play for the Giants at No. 3, where the team appears to be leaning against taking a quarterback, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports. Schultz adds, however, that Dart is unlikely to make it out of the first round, so the Giants may have to trade up if they want to secure the former Ole Miss quarterback.

There has been growing buzz around Dart as a first-round quarterback, and the Giants are casting a wide net as they look for a young option at the position. New York has the second pick of the second round, so they would be well-positioned to move up for him if they wanted to. Teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers could also want a look at Dart, however.

The Giants are still being linked to Sanders, and not without reason. However, things seem to be trending away from the team going with a quarterback at No. 3. A strong interest in a quarterback like Dart is just further evidence of that, and it suggests Sanders could face a real fall in the draft as a result.

Dart led the SEC in 2024 with 4,279 passing yards. He also threw 29 touchdown passes to go with six interceptions for an Ole Miss team that went 10-3 on the season.
