The NFL Draft is a holiday for football fans, the sport’s equivalent to Christmas over the course of three days in late April.
Such a sacred day demands tradition. Every year, fans boo Commissioner Roger Goodell, first-round picks hold their jerseys on stage, and the telecasts showcase’s prospects’ saddest stories on the happiest day of their lives.
Among the customs are the tributary and creative announcements for Days 2 and 3 of the event. Teams select iconic figures from the organizations’ past and present to relieve Goodell of his pick-announcing duties. It’s an opportunity for former players to rile up fans and stoke the fires of rivalries, and for those watching at home to embark on the age-old tradition of “remembering some guys.”
Days before the 2025 NFL Draft, the New York Giants revealed that franchise legend Jason Sehorn will announce their Day 2 picks, per Paul Schwartz.
Sehorn, ironically, was a Day 2 pick himself, drafted with the 59th selection in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft. He spent the better part of a decade with New York, from 1994–2002, before ending his career with the (then) St. Louis Rams.
Sehorn made his mark fairly early in his Giants tenure, leading the league with five forced fumbles in 1996. Between the 1996 and 1997 seasons, he totaled 11 interceptions and seven forced fumbles, looking like one of the game’s better corners in the process.
There’s a chance Sehorn calls the name of a fellow defensive back across the draft’s second day. The Giants’ hole at corner, though, might be addressed in Round 1 with Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter.
Ultimately, fans will be holding their breath for a critical slew of Day 2 selections. From rolling the dice on a quarterback to weaponizing the defensive line, reinforcing the offensive line, or finding a complementary back for running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., New York has no shortage of options waiting for it, and plenty of ammunition at its disposal.
Barring any trades, the Giants will have the Nos. 34, 65, and 99 to play with on Friday.
