Have the Minnesota Vikings finally fixed their kicker woes?
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

When the Minnesota Vikings selected kicker Will Reichard out of Alabama with the 203rd pick in April's NFL Draft, it drew some criticism. Not only did the Vikings pick a kicker, but they have a poor history at the position.

They selected Blair Walsh in the 2012 NFL Draft and he was a success right away. He went 10/10 on field goals of 50+ yards and earned a large contract extension before his rookie contract expired. Of course, it started to go downhill when Walsh missed a 27-yard chip shot in the wild card round against the Seattle Seahawks and his confidence was shot from there.

They followed that up by selecting Daniel Carlson in the 2018 NFL Draft and he lasted just two games in a Vikings uniform. It was a weird selection for the franchise, as they were in an all-in situation. He lasted two games and was cut after Carlson missed three field goals in a tie game at Lambeau Field.

Will Reichard could be the answer

Have the Vikings found their kicker? Well, it certainly seems that way. Throughout the course of training camp, Reichard has been dynamite. He went 8-for-8 on field goals on Tuesday during practice and has only missed a total of three field goals since training camp began.

The only other missed kick came in the first preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders when he had a kick blocked. Now, that's not his fault as the line forgot how to block and got bowled over. Now, sometimes it is the kicker's fault that a kick his blocked, but not when the defense blows through.

Reichard made 84% of his field goals at Alabama, including going 8-11 on field goals of 50+ yards. After training camp and the first two preseason games, there is a good amount of evidence that Reichard might finally be the guy to break that streak.
