Houston Texans Eyeing Top Weapon for C.J. Stroud

The Houston Texans allowed veteran playmaking wide receiver Stefon Diggs to walk via free agency, and may need to go weapon hunting for quarterback C.J. Stroud during the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

While the Texans have some premier talent at the position, especially in emerging star Nico Collins, Tank Dell is coming off a significant injury that could limit his production, especially early in the season.

Diggs’ departure combined with Stroud entering his third NFL season could point to the Texans adding one of the top receivers in a loaded draft class at the position in this year’s draft.

“The goal is to try to continue to add good football players,” Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio told reporters. “There’s a number of players at [wide receiver] that look like they’re gonna have an opportunity to help their team. I would say that position in particular in the draft, it certainly looks like there’s some players that are going to be able to help who ever drafts them.”

While free-agent newcomer Christian Kirk is a piece of the puzzle, the Texans could look to add a potentially marquee playmaker at receiver, especially if the likes of Emeka Egbuka, Jack Bech, or Jayden Higgins happen to be available in the early rounds when Houston is on the clock.
