Is Chiefs Best Defensive Player Out vs. Steelers?

The best player on the Kansas City Chiefs roster is of course Patrick Mahomes. But coming up closely behind him is a defensive star who is now being listed via multiple reports as "unlikely to play'' today.

Standout defensive tackle Chris Jones has been listed as questionable after he sustained a calf injury during Saturday's win against the Texans.

Jones has been a star and an iron man here as he has appeared in every game for the Chiefs this season, totaling 37 tackles, five sacks, and one forced fumble.

But that is seemingly about to change as the Chiefs play a third game in the span of just 11 days.

Starting right tackle Jawaan Taylor is also questionable for this game with a knee injury. He too was limited in practice throughout the week.

QB Mahomes has battled through his ankle injury and should be good to go for the Chiefs, who come into this game with a 14-1 record while needing one win in their two final games to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.

That would of course guarantee that the playoffs "go through Kansas City'' and Arrowhead Stadium in addition to providing the Chiefs with the all-important first-round bye into the divisional round.

The Steelers are also primo contenders at 10-5 but they are coming off two straight losses to the powerhouses the Eagles and the Ravens.

They are hoping to get back George Pickens, who has missed the last three games due to injury.

Kickoff will be at 12 p.m. CT on Netflix. ... hopefully a Christmas treat for all of KC - if not for Chris Jones himself.
