Ja’Marr Chase enters his fifth season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2025, the first year of his four-year contract extension from 2025 worth $161 million, with a possible continued contract in 2029. After playing two seasons for Louisiana State University, Chase opted out of the 2020 season and entered the NFL Draft as one of the top wide receivers on the big board.
He entered the NFL Draft in 2021, where the Bengals drafted him in the first round, fifth overall. In his four seasons in the league thus far, Chase has amassed 5,425 receiving yards on 395 receptions and 46 receiving touchdowns, along with 55 yards rushing and no additional touchdowns. He has also thrown one pass in his career for -7 yards.
Last season, Ja’Marr Chase was the consensus number one wide receiver across all league formats. Chase is a reliable and super star talent for the Bengals and is known for his eye-popping receptions and plays that rack up yardage. His quarterback, Joe Burrow, leads him on one of the best scoring offenses in the league. This should continue while he remains a member of the Bengals, and his ability to make circus catches and make plays after the catch, and in the endzone make him a true threat each and every time he touches the ball.
The defense is shaky, but with both Tee Higgins and Joe Burrow locked up, can Ja’Marr Chase put up another top receiver season with stability all around him on offense?
Ja’Marr Chase played in all 17 games last season with the Bengals. Chase caught 127 of 175 passes thrown his way, for 1,708 yards while recording 17 touchdowns. He also rushed for 32 yards in three attempts, with no additional touchdowns. He accumulated no passing or special-teams points.
In 2024, Ja’Marr Chase was a fantastic WR1 for any fantasy team that drafted him. Using Fantasy Pros standard scoring, Chase was worth 16.2 points per game for a total of 276 points cumulatively. In PPR leagues, those numbers jumped to 23.7 per game for a cumulative total of 403 yards. He averaged four or more points per game, higher than any other receiver across all formats.
He stayed fully healthy for the season, as he historically has been able to do, and was the clear lead wide receiver not just on the Bengals but across the entire league. Ja’Marr Chase is the clear top dog and is paid like it, as long as he continues to stay healthy.
Ja’Marr Chase enters 2025 healthy and coming off a dominant career performance. Unlike other players in the outlook series, Chase has security for many years with his current team after locking up an extension this offseason. Chase will look to show teams he is the most dominant weapon in the NFL multiple years in a row, and lead his team back into the Super Bowl.
Chase still posted fantastic numbers in 2025, even as the team around him struggled. It helps to have two of the marquee offensive players in the game on offense with him, Tee Higgins and Joe Burrow, and a plethora of other emerging weapons.
According to Fantasy Pros, Ja’Marr Chase is projected as the second overall pick in standard leagues, first among wide receivers. In both PPR and Half PPR leagues, he bumps up to number one overall and number one among wide receivers.
Entering 2025, I expect Chase to have another massive year. With his two best offensive teammates locked up and happy, and emerging players at TE and RB, Chase can be the lead playmaker on one of the best offenses in the game once again. The Bengals have hopes of finally winning a Super Bowl, and Chase’s offensive prowess gives them the best opportunity to do so.
Ja’Marr Chase should be able to gather 1700-1800 total passing yards, which is his career high, 120-140 receptions, also his career high, and 15 -20 touchdowns. He is projected to get drafted first or second in all leagues, regardless of formats. For the 2025 season, this value matches his talent. Few players are consensus top picks and live up to it, but Ja’Marr Chase is that special.
Ja’Marr Chase will be entering his age-25 season this year. There is no question that Chase has multiple good years left in his prime, and could even remain the number one player in the league for several seasons. Not only that, but he does not have any red flags either. He has only had two injuries in his career, one for his hip in 2022 that caused him to miss four games, and one for his shoulder in 2023 that caused him to miss one game. He is a reliable force in a fantasy lineup.
Many other solid wide receivers in the league can put up solid fantasy points. However, none of them can keep up with what Ja’Marr Chase did last season, and there is no reason to predict he would not do it again this year. The positive is that wide receivers age better than running backs, and Chase is still well in his prime, so these dominant years should continue, especially with his trusted quarterback, Burrow, along for the ride with him.
Ja’Marr Chase is a clear superstar who can win you a fantasy league championship, and should be held on to if he is already owned by you in your league. He will score plenty of points and slot in as the best and most consistent WR1 in the league. Owners should be reserved of giving up a lot to acquire him if the asking price is too high, though, depending on your team’s depth. Owners will ask for the moon, and ultimately, one player will not win you a league on his own unless you have incredible depth to withstand the price tag.
Entering his age-25 season, Ja’Marr Chase has a long track record of success offensively that should continue for many years to come. For 2025, he is worth drafting and relying on as a top-end WB1 option. Chase had a career year last year across the board, and assuming he again stays healthy, that pattern should continue. The Bengals should once again be in contention, with plenty of weapons on offense that will overwhelm opposing defenses, opening opportunities for all teammates. Chase is about as guaranteed as you can get in fantasy football.
