The New York Jets have done a major cleanout of the roster with general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn moving on from Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, and others.
That has left holes and a lot of them in the roster. Justin Fields was signed to be the starter in 2025, but as things stand, he doesn't have too much help around him.
Yes, he has a solid enough offensive line, but having all the time in the world means nothing if you don't have good weapons to throw to, and right now, you can make the case that Justin has one - Garrett Wilson.
Luckily, holding the No. 7 pick, New York has a chance to add to Fields' weaponry, and for Pro Football Focus, a second receiver is looming as the choice.
"The Jets do currently have three starting receivers in Garrett Wilson, Josh Reynolds and Allen Lazard, but the latter two finished with sub-64.0 PFF receiving grades last year, making WR2 a big need," Pro Football Focus writes.
Considering the six teams selecting ahead of New York, there is a fair chance that only one receiver will be off the board by the time they pick (Travis Hunter). This would mean Tetairoa McMillan, Matthew Golden, Luther Burden III, and Emeka Egbuka would all be available.
And we can be fairly certain that any one of those draft choices would slot into the WR2 role from Day 1.
But we shouldn't forget Penn State tight end Tyler Warren, either. With his playmaking ability, he could easily be seen as a "receiver," too, and several mock drafts have the Jets taking him.
So offense feels the way to go for New York. Yes, Fields is coming in to kickstart this new regime, but he needs weapons to do so, and that's something that's severely lacking right now.
