The New York Jets have one of the brightest young stars in the NFL in cornerback Sauce Gardner, and his contract is set to expire after the 2025 season comes to an end.
Many players in the same situation where they are expecting a new contract would not show up for offseason workouts in efforts to convince the team to invest in them. But according to SNY's Connor Hughes, Gardner is in attendance and putting in work for the Jets at their workouts.
This is a refreshing sight for the Jets, as a number of other stars, such as Cincinnati Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase and Kansas City Chiefs' defensive tackle Chris Jones, have held out and not participated in offseason workouts.
But Sauce is trying to convince the Jets to give him a new contract in a different way, and that is by showing the team how committed he is to them.
"These are guys you invest in," Hughes said in his post breaking the news that Gardner was at workouts.
Gardner has already been named First Team All-Pro twice in his three-year career, and he will only continue to get better as he gets more and more experience under his belt.
The Jets have had a decent amount of drama around them this offseason, mainly involving their former quarterback Aaron Rodgers. So seeing a player that is committed to giving his best to the team is a breath of fresh air.
