Joe Burrow 2025 NFL Dynasty Outlook
- Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow celebrates a Week 17 overtime win over the Denver Broncos that kept Cincinnati's slim playoff hopes alive. Burrow threw for 412 yards and three touchdowns in the game and also added a rushing score.

Joe Burrow enters his fifth season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2025, the third year of his five-year contract extension from 2023 worth $275 million, with a possible continued contract in 2028 and 2029. After playing three seasons for the Ohio State University, including his redshirt year, Burrow transferred to Louisiana State University for his final two college years.

He entered the NFL Draft in 2020, where the Bengals drafted him first overall pick. In his five seasons in the league thus far, Burrow has amassed 19,001 passing yards with 140 passing touchdowns, along with 806 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing.

Last season, Joe Burrow was an easy top 5 quarterback in all formats. Burrow is a reliable and talented quarterback for the Bengals and is known for his eye-popping passing statistics and throws, leading one of the best scoring offenses in the league. This should continue while he remains a member of the Bengals, and his ability to gain occasional rushing touchdowns near the goalline adds slightly to his value, although some quarterbacks outclass him dramatically in rushing statistics.

The defense is shaky, but with both Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase locked up, can Joe Burrow put up another MVP-quality performance?

Joe Burrow 2024 Stats and Fantasy Production

Joe Burrow played in all 17 games last season with the Bengals. Burrow passed 652 times with 460 completions (70.6%) for 4,918 yards while recording 43 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed for 201 yards in 42 attempts, collecting an additional two touchdowns. He accumulated no receiving or special-teams yards.

In 2024, Joe Burrow was a fantastic QB1 for any fantasy team that drafted him. Using Fantasy Pros scoring, Burrow was worth 22.5 points per game for a total of 381.8 points cumulatively. Those points are the same for all leagues, given that quarterbacks rarely receive the ball.

He managed to stay fully healthy for the season and was the clear lead quarterback and star passer for the Bengals. Joe Burrow is the clear top dog and is paid like it, as long as he manages to stay healthy.

Joe Burrow enters 2025 healthy and coming off an MVP-worthy performance. Unlike other players in the outlook series, Burrow has security for several years with his current team. Burrow will look to show teams he is capable of staying fully healthy for multiple years in a row, and leading his team back into the Super Bowl.

Burrow still posted fantastic numbers in 2025, even as the team around him struggled. It helps to have two of the marquee wide receivers in the game on offense with him, Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, and a plethora of other emerging weapons.

According to Fantasy Pros, Joe Burrow is projected as the 49th overall pick in standard leagues, 5th among quarterbacks. In PPR leagues, he slips top 50 overall but remains the fifth QB off the board. Half PPR leagues’ draft board ADP matches exactly to standard scoring.

Entering 2025, I expect Burrow to have another massive year. With his two best receivers locked up and happy, and emerging players at TE and RB, Burrow has the ability to run one of the best offenses in the game once again. The Bengals have hopes of finally winning a Super Bowl, and Burrow’s offensive prowess gives them the best opportunity to do so.

Joe Burrow should be able to gather 4500-5000 total passing yards, which is roughly his average range when healthy, 425-250 completions, a 70% completion percentage, and a 40-10 touchdowns to interceptions ratio. He is projected to get drafted in the late third or early fourth round, depending on formats. For the 2025 season, knowing quarterbacks drop a bit in the rankings on draft day despite their real-world value, Burrow feels like great value at that spot. The key will be whether he stays healthy for a second season in a row.

Joe Burrow Dynasty Outlook

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase (1), quarterback Joe Burrow (9) and wide receiver Tee Higgins (5) take the field as captains for the coin toss before the first quarter of the NFL Week 18 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025.

Joe Burrow will be entering his age-25 season this year, turning 29 in season. Unlike other positions, quarterbacks have shown to age well in recent years, meaning he should still have multiple good years left in his prime. However, Burrows does have a red flag that could impact his value in dynasty formats over the long term. He has a critical injury history, and while he is coming off a healthy year and did manage two healthy seasons in the past, he can still be a concern for dynasty owners. He remains an easy Top 5 QB in all scoring leagues, assuming health, but the health assumption is key.

Joe Burrow was injured in both 2020 and 2023. In 2020, Burrow tore his ACL, MCL, PCL, and meniscus in his left knee. In 2021, he dislocated his pinky, although he continued to play in games. He sprained his MCL in the Super Bowl LVI at the end of the 2022 season. In 2023, Burrow had a litany of injuries, including a calf strain early in the season, an aggravated calf injury, and eventually a season-ending wrist injury. He had no reported injuries in 2024, the first time in any season. That long list is cause for concern for long-term dynasty players.

The other concern is his position. The truth is, real-life football values the QB far higher than fantasy and dynasty football do. The positive is that quarterbacks age better than most of the other skill positions in football, and occasionally can pop up out of nowhere a bit later in their careers.

However, equally important is that, other than true running quarterbacks that rack up fantasy points in both ways, most quarterbacks put up a relatively similar amount of points. This means they can be somewhat interchangeable. There is less point variability than in other positions. It is hard to invest a great deal in acquiring a quarterback, unless it is a dire situation.

Joe Burrow is a very strong option to hold on to if he is already owned by you in your league. He will score plenty of points and slot in as one of the highest quality QB1s in the league. Owners should be reserved of giving up a lot to acquire him if the asking price is high, though, due to both the replaceability of the position and his extensive injury history. Making sure to have a solid backup QB option on the bench is a smart safety net in case of a long-term injury.

Final Thoughts

Despite entering his age-28 season, Joe Burrow has a long track record of success offensively that should continue for many years to come. For 2025, he is worth drafting and relying on as a top-end QB1 option, but be cautious of the future. Burrow had a career year last year across the board, and assuming he again stays healthy, that pattern should continue.

The Bengals should once again be in contention, with plenty of weapons on offense that will overwhelm opposing defenses, opening opportunities for all teammates. Proceed with caution long term, given his injury past, but in 2025, Burrow is a clear Top QB in all formats.
