Justin Jefferson Makes Thoughts Clear on Vikings' Next Quarterback

The future of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is still uncertain as the franchise wrestles with whether to franchise tag, re-sign or move on the veteran signal-caller. The early reports for J.J. McCarthy suggest the quarterback will be ready for 2025 after a torn meniscus ended his rookie season.

Either way, no matter who the Vikings' quarterback is next year, wide receiver Justin Jefferson is confident in his ability to produce.

"It doesn't matter who's going to throw me that ball; I'm gonna make the most of my opportunities. I'm going to try and make him look like the best quarterback in the whole NFL."

Recent reporting suggests the Vikings will not use the franchise tag Darnold and will not tag-and-trade the signal-caller. Spotrac projects Darnold to have a market value of $40.1 million average annual salary. Minnesota has until 4 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday to designate a franchise on Darnold.

The 27-year-old quarterback had a career-best season in 2024, passing for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Darnold will become an unrestricted free agent on March 12, the first date of the new league year.

Jefferson had another big season with Darnold under center, collecting 103 receptions for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns on 154 targets.
