The Las Vegas Raiders had a late-game blunder against the Kansas City Chiefs , resulting in a heartbreaking 19-17 loss. The center, Jackson Powers-Johnson, snapped the ball too early for quarterback Aidan O'Connell, who fumbled the ball, resulting in a Chiefs recovery.
Powers-Johnson was visibly livid after the play and the penalty on the field, and he had some harsh self-criticism in his post-game press conference.
"We didn't come up short," Powers-Johnson said. "I came up short... S***'s on me."
Although the young center is taking the blame for the blunder, his quarterback O'Connell also took all of the blame for what transpired. He told reporters that it was on him because he clapped his hands too early which likely registered to Powers-Johnson that he should snap the ball.
Despite who's fault it was, Las Vegas has now fallen to a 2-10 record and currently hold the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. While it was a valiant effort from the team all around, this loss only helps them get closer to ensuring that they will have a top five pick in the draft, which can be used on a rookie quarterback.
