Kansas City Chiefs DE BJ Thompson's agent has provided an update on his condition after the second-year edge rusher suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a team meeting on Thursday.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Thompson's agent Chris Turnage went to visit Thompson in the hospital on Thursday, where he remains in stable condition. Turnage told Pelissero the following message.
“BJ is still unconscious at this point, but he’s stable and vitals are good," he said. "His family asks for your continued prayers.”

The Chiefs' medical and training staff acted quickly after Thompson suffered his seizure, administering life-saving aid to Thompson before an ambulance arrived to attend to him and transport him to a local area hospital. Chiefs Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that his staff had just received new training from a sports medicine emergency management company this week.
A fifth-round draft pick out of Stephen F. Austin in the 2023 NFL draft, Thompson is slated to play a larger role in 2024 than he did during his rookie season. He appeared in just one game during the 2023 NFL season, recording two total tackles and a pressure.
The Chiefs postponed Thursday's OTAs practice after Thompson suffered his medical emergency. They'll resume regularly scheduled practice on Friday, where we'll learn more about the situation during a post-practice update from HC Andy Reid.
