The 4-7 Chicago Bears travel to Detroit to take on the 10-1 Lions for a Thanksgiving Day divisional clash.
The Lions stayed hot with a win over the Indianapolis Colts last week and have won six of their last eight games by double-digits. Detroit is the most complete team in the NFL, ranking first in scoring offense and second in scoring defense. Quarterback Jared Goff is playing like an MVP candidate, and Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery make up the best running back tandem in the league.
The Bears are coming off of back-to-back, last-second heartbreaking losses to the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. Riding a five-game losing streak, they are now in desperation mode to save their season and likely need to win out to have a shot at making the playoffs. Chicago ranks in the top 10 of the NFL in points allowed, but rank 26th in total offense.
Here are the best odds and bets for this matchup.
*Odds from Caesars Sportsbook and subject to change
Lions: -550
Bears: +400
The Lions are on pace to go down as one of the greatest regular season teams in NFL history. They have won most games in blowout fashion, but have also showed that they can win tight games if needed.
The Bears' defense tries its best to keep the team competitive, but the offense can't finish games. Five of Chicago's seven losses have come by just one possession. There's no reason to believe that things will change this week in a road game against the best team in the league. I'll avoid the moneyline and bet on the Lions to cover the spread.
Lions: -10 (-110)
Bears: +10 (-110)
If the Bears are at their best, perhaps they keep it close through three quarters, but I still think Detroit will pull away in the fourth and win comfortably.
I don't expect Chicago's offense to do much against a stellar Lions' defense. The Bears' defense is good enough to prevent Detroit's offense from going nuclear, but the Lions should still be able to reach the high 20's. However, Chicago has been held under 20 points in four of it's last five games, so I'll bet the under.
