Mahomes Admits He Cheats (But Not in Football)

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are under fire for "weaponizing the rules'' and even for "cheating'' by being the beneficiaries of a "rigged" NFL system.

It doesn't make much logical sense ... except for the part about those who care about the game wanting to get the calls right.

The Chiefs, winners of the past two Super Bowls, are playing for a "three-peat'' next Sunday as they will be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles have manhandled their way through the NFC, unlike Kansas City, which defeated Buffalo in a close and controversial AFC Championship Game last Sunday.

But the Chiefs are off to New Orleans and Super Bowl 59 ... doing what they do to prepare.

And will Mahomes "cheat''? He will push the envelope. He will "weaponize the rules.'' He will use cleverness and chicanery.

But the only thing he cheats at, he said is golf.

How about that handicap, Patrick?

"I say 7, but it's probably closer to 4 or 5 ... don't tell anybody," he said in an interview with the Chiefs website..

Mahomes needn't bother with the conspiracy theorists, as he's too smart to do so.

How smart?

Before the Texas native became an all-time great quarterback for the Chiefs, he was putting up huge numbers for Texas Tech.

Somehow, though, not everybody in the NFL thought all of his work would translate. So he lasted until pick No. 10 in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, which now figures to go down as one of the all-time steals.

Maybe the Chiefs knew something others didn't about his mental makeup ... which is revealed in part by what we now know about his having performed quite well in the classroom.

It is being reported that Mahomes had a 3.91 GPA at Texas Tech. His mother, Randi, was awfully proud of his academic achievements.

"He started getting college credits at Tyler Junior College when he was still in high school," Randi recently said. "I admit I am a proud mom. I am very proud of his athletic achievements.

"However, I am more proud of his scholastic achievements."

You bet. Just don't tell Mom her son cheats at golf.
